Locations for Leicestershire Wedding Photography

By

If you're planning on getting married in Leicestershire, there are plenty of traditional, spectacular and unique locations to choose for your engagement or wedding photography.
Perhaps you're looking for an interesting backdrop for an engagement photography shoot, or the perfect location for Leicestershire wedding photography. There are country parks, castles, weirs, locks, a space centre, and even a historical railway to choose from. Your Leicester wedding photographer will no doubt also have a few ideas to inspire you, too. If you're after a location for your wedding photos in addition to your ceremony or reception venue, you may even want to consider a short trip to a separate location in between your vows and your reception meal!
Here are just a few suggestions for great places to shoot wedding photography in the Leicestershire area:
Foxton Locks:
Set in tranquil countryside on the Leicester line of the Grand Union Canal, Foxton locks is the largest 'flight of staircase' locks in Britain. The backdrop of traditional narrowboats making their way through the locks would make for fantastic wedding photographs!
Bradgate Park:
A gem of a country park, Bradgate park is an area of unspoilt beauty, containing woodlands, wildlife, the River Lin, 'Little Matlock gorge' and the stunning ruins of Bradgate House. A dramatic location for wedding photography, or the perfect place for a country walk and an engagement photoshoot!
Kirby Muxloe Castle:
Another dramatic and historic location for atmospheric wedding photography in Leicestershire - Kirby Muxloe castle is a semi-ruined 15th Century castle that has been conserved by English Heritage. With a corner tower, brick-built mansion and traditional moat, it will make for beautiful wedding or engagement photographs.
Rutland Water Nature Reserve:
An 'internationally famous' nature reserve, Rutland Water Nature Reserve and wildfowl sanctuary contains over 20,000 waterfowl, as well as many more mammals, insects, fish, amphibians, plants and reptiles. The Education Centre can also be hired for events, so why not hold your wedding reception here and enjoy the gorgeous natural backdrop for your wedding photographs.
Bluebell Woods:
Outwoods and Bluebell Woods in Loughborough provide an incredible backdrop of a sea of bluebells during the spring, making for stunning wedding photography in the heart of Leicestershire.
Calke Abbey:
This 'un-stately' home has a quirky history and an intriguing abandoned atmosphere. Search for unique photography locations within the grounds, including an orangery, walled gardens, auricula theatre and kitchen gardens.
National Space Centre:
And for the young at heart (or wannabe astronaut), why not visit the National Space Centre near Leicester, for some out-of-this-world wedding photography and a play on the interactive displays?
Wherever you choose for your Leicestershire wedding photography or engagement shoot, look for somewhere that really appeals to your personalities as a couple, and enjoy the chance of taking some memorable photographs in a place that means something special to you!
